Communists abroad align with the central committee of the Soviet Communists to oppose Tito and his associates as Slavic factions push for a unified stance.
In Tulsa a 42 year old woman, Ruth Norton, was found beaten to death in her apartment. Hours earlier a 38 year old woman, J B Cole, and two teenage girls Doris Cole 13 and Levon Gabbard 14 were savagely beaten in a nearby flat. Investigators described the killings as among the citys most brutal. Four youths were questioned and later released.
Lonnie Lee Stamps 88 was found slumped under his car wheel on a rural crossroad four miles south of Kilgore Tuesday evening. Kilgore officer said the coroner ruled death from a personal safety related gunshot wound and his estranged wife lived at 316 East Thirteenth in Amarillo.
Democratic chairman J Howard McGrath said the White House has taken no steps to push Eisenhower to withdraw as a potential Democratic nominee. The Draft Ike campaign gains support as Georgia Democrats call for Eisenhower’s drafting and urge Truman to bow out. Virginia Democrats receive a caution against boycotting Philadelphia if Truman is nominated.
Aggravated assault charges were filed in county court at Canyon over the peach orchard shooting of Jimmy Eck a 15 year old son of Mrs Marguerite Sampson Eck was wounded in the foot by a .22 rifle Five shots were fired from an orchard window authorities said the case will be referred to the Randall County grand jury for further investigation and the rifle was confiscated.
A Panhandle holiday period last July saw several traffic fatalities across Amarillo Vega and Dumas. An Amarillo toddler died after being struck in the street, a South Texas couple died in a head on crash, and a Fort Worth man perished near Dumas. Six others were injured as Amarillo officials plan a traffic safety campaign later in July or August.
A hot electrical fire in the Borger switch house caused a major power service break to Hutchinson County industrial sites. Division manager Jack Cabbell said power aimed to resume to industrial customers by mid afternoon. Frank Elmore called the event the worst since the Riverview plant opened. No plant damage reported beyond the switch house disruption.
Amarillo national banks report deposits totaling 100 million 474 thousand 304 40 dollars, up from 96 million 871 thousand 136 84 in April. The increase of 3 million 900 thousand 167 98 occurs as wheat crop income has yet to flow and mirrors a 1947 wheat harvest peak.

Arrangements for a memorial service at Amarillo Army Air Field are set for Saturday morning as part of the first wartime personnel reunion. Veterans Administration chaplain Rev. James C. Richardson will conduct the ceremony, with a bus leaving the Herring Hotel at 10 o clock. More than 75 former Amarillo AAF personnel arrived Friday for the reunion, including Col. E. T. Selzer and Mrs. Selzer.
Weather forecast from Walter Wert of the English Field weather station indicates chances of moderate showers developing by Saturday. Further showers are expected on Tuesday as humid air builds over the region.
