Capers treasurer Barrier reporter and P. L. Bottoms parliamentarian. New members Lola Ham and B. M. Holland were introduced and the next meeting is February 20 for a Dr. I. Q. program.

Initiation Plans Set for Girls Reserve at YWCA Clubrooms
Plans for candle light initiation of the Girls Reserve of ficers were made for February 22 at the YWCA clubrooms after a meeting at Elizabeth Nixon Junior High School. Parents of members will be honor guests as refreshments are served. An informal dance is planned for March 1 with skating and ping pong as additional entertainment.

Deputy collectors warn taxpayers they must attach Form W-2 or employer wage statements to their returns or no assistance can be given. The W-2 may serve as the return in many cases, per Ralph Kenniston, chief of the field office. Those earning under $5,000 in 1944 can file with the new form unless interest, rents, or dividends exceed $100. Eight deputies will assist at the revenue office this week to help file returns, urging prompt action before staffing drops.

Howell Owes His Life to Sixth Sense
In Miami an AP dispatch tells how 24 year old Lt. Walter F. Howell owed his survival to a sixth sense during a July Canton raid. After landing in a tree atop a 700 foot cliff and a three hour decision not to cut the parachute cords, dawn revealed the perilous perch. The crew later reached base after 10 months overseas and 51 combat missions as a B 25 bombardier navigator. Mrs. Thelma G. Howell of Marion South Carolina is noted.
