In Amarillo sponsors display oldest items from the Panhandle and eastern New Mexico. Windows show a 1876 locket with a 1882 photo of Mrs. W. W. Wetzel, widow of the first Amarillo mayor, plus watches over a century old, a 1909 topcoat, and other relics. Judges will take time after Saturday to reveal winners across several classes.

Postmen To Walk At Convention Here

The state convention of carriers clerks and supervisors in Amarillo will run July 18 and 19 with a conducted stroll as a feature. About 1,000 delegates are expected. Arrangements committee members meet at the Amarillo Hotel Parlor A at 2 p m Sunday to begin planning.

Seven members selected at a mass meeting plan a Washington trip to press defense funding for Amarillo. Dr R Thomson chairs the group and says they expect to depart Sunday morning on Braniff and American flights, aiming to reach Washington by Sunday evening. Denton Singers Soloist Jim Jackson Featured in Amarillo

Jim Jackson son of Folsom D. Jackson Amarillo College music director is a soloist with the North Texas State College A Cappella Choir. The choir, noted among Southwest groups, appears at Amarillo College next Tuesday night with admission 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for students. Another son Jack recently joined for the spring term. The Amarillo College Choir sponsors the Denton singers' visit.
