City commissioners study legal aspects of placing all Amarillo youths under curfew. City Manager Moss to present the question to the 7 30 p m meeting. Mayor Hagy may arrive from Washington. Chicago imposes a 10 p m to 6 a m curfew for under 18. Grand jury reports alarm at teen theft. Other items include street equipment and safety council. Court upholds grain allocation order for distilleries

A three judge federal court ruled the January grain allotment order by Secretary Clinton P. Anderson constitutional. The decision upheld the USDA action against Schenley Distillery Corp which challenged the order. FHA repair loans advertised with zero down payment. Local notice mentions John Maynard Letter Co.

Tax Cut Bill Moves to House in Party Split

The House Ways and Means panel approved a 6.3 billion tax cut in a straight party line 15 to 9. President Truman’s proposed counter plan failed 19 to 5 as four Democrats opposed it. Democrats warned the bill could shrink before final action. The measure targets higher personal exemptions and broader income divisions under the community property rule.

Panhandle Resident Charles Gordon-Cumming Dies at 82

The younger son of a Scottish titled family, Charles Lenox Gordon-Cumming, age 82, died at his home on the Tierra Blanca banks west of Canyon after a sudden illness. He had lived in the Panhandle for 60 years, and his former home Gordon's Country Club was a longtime picnic and fishing spot five miles west of Canyon near Highway 60.

A land mine being cut for scrap exploded in Erfurt in Russian occupied Thuringia killing one person and injuring 107. Erfurt police said 820 apartments were damaged in the blast.

Truman sets up emergency board over rail wage dispute
