Excavation begins at the seventeen story Davidson hotel at Seventh and Tyler as John McKnight moves a large steam shovel onto the site. The Hughes-O'Rourke Construction Company will finish the dig in about thirty days with foundation work to follow. Ground breaking occurred last Friday and protective walkways are being installed. The Baker interests will lease and operate the Davidson as a Baker hotel, linked with the Texan in Fort Worth and Bakers elsewhere. T. B. Baker predicts it will be unrivaled. Also noted is a turkey cooking tip: a 10 pound bird needs about three and a half hours.
