Neighbors Roy and Mrs. Bell freed Brown, using a pipe to lift the car and prevent suffocation until an ambulance arrived. Melton, 64, had lived in Amarillo since 1924 and belonged to First Baptist Church. He is survived by a wife, son Jack, daughters Neal Phipps and Mrs. George Cultra, two sisters, and three granddaughters. Funeral plans are pending.
