Coast Tragedy as Giant Airliner Crashes in Oceanide

Sixteen charred and mangled bodies lie in Oceanside morgue after a T A T Maddux airliner returning from Agua Caliente Mexico crashes into hillside, bursting into flames. Eight passengers are women and eight men. witnesses say fog and a 200 foot ceiling contributed. Cabin split open and wreckage ignites into a gas-fed funeral pyre. Only fragments of the occupants survive, with several named victims identified in reports.

Trio of Convicts Captured After Furious Gun Fight

Avery Turner Stricken in Albuquerque on Gastritis

Avery Turner, general agent of the Santa Fe in his fifty fourth year of service, is recovering in Santa Fe hospital Albuquerque after an acute gastritis attack. He and Mrs. Turner moved from Amarillo to California for a stay. Turner fell ill on the train and was removed at Albuquerque. Authorities report improvement at noon and expect travel resumption in a few days. Turner helped inaugurate the Santa Fe general office here and hosted open house for longtime colleagues.
