City Manager N V Moss announces pay raises totaling 520 per month for 440 Amarillo workers in all class employees. Base pay for police and fire staff rises. patrolmen, sergeants, lieutenants, and lieutenants in fire also see increased monthly wages, varying with service length. Judge Harris E. Lofthus says he is shocked by his dismissal from Amarillo’s corporation court by City Manager N. V. Moss. C. Lloyd King, former district attorney, will replace him February 1. Lofthus began the post last year under the new council plan separating the court from the police department. He learned of the decision about 5 p.m. yesterday and may vacate earlier if he chooses.
Six B 36 bombers landed in England for the first time after a 7000 mile one stop flight from Carswell AFB Fort Worth. The mission trained navigation and fuel use with crews of 15 aboard each craft and simulated armament.
