Jaycee directors meet to plan Friday noon luncheon honoring Harry Hines at Amarillo Hotel. Mayor Ross D. Rogers suggests joint meeting with Mr Hines presenting a city traffic survey report. Luncheon costs 60 cents per plate and is open to the public. Committees named for arrangements announcements recruitment and publicity.
Petitions for paying communications from the tax collector and other routine matters will be considered tonight by the city commission. The regular weekly session is scheduled for 7:30. No hearing on the proposed extension of bus service will be held tonight. the hearing is set for next Tuesday night.

Sheep sales 5,000 head, total 5,300 with native lambs steady at 8.60 to 8.85 for best, no fed lots early.
The Amarillo High School Orchestra will give its first public formal concert in 24 years Friday at 8 p.m. in the Amarillo High School Auditorium. The 33 piece ensemble will perform a varied program with two guest soloists Mrs James Florey of the Amarillo Philharmonic on violin and Miss Winona Wise former member and Pampa Public School band director on flute admission is free.
In Mansfield O U P the recreation department opened Safety Town for pre school children teaching traffic rules through a game on a miniature street with a toy signal and cars supervised by city staff.
Amarillo police traffic survey finds pedestrians cross red lights at downtown intersections about twice a minute. City painters repaint sidewalks and issue warnings as officers note widespread jay walking. A detective captain recalls being arrested for the same offense.
Bernarr MacFadden publisher and physical culturist wrote to Mayor Ross D Rogers thanking Amarillo for joining the Christmas Eve Night of Light. He said the event was quick and heart warming and that many governors and mayors issued proclamations. He asked whether a permanent plan could be considered to keep the Night of Light as a lasting celebration.
Mrs Ed Putman will lead a panel discussion at a San born Parent-Teacher Association meeting at 7 30 tonight in the school building. Musical entertainment will be provided by the Patten School negro chorus and refreshments will be served.
Daphine Dora Gold was granted a divorce from Gordon David Gold and Stella Blanche Barr from Charles N Barr in the 108th district. Mary Burns petitioned for divorce from Gerald Burns in the same court.
Raymond Clapper, veteran Washington correspondent, will address the Amarillo Knife and Fork Club next Monday night. His talk titled Washington From the Inside will come as Congress begins its new session amid a national election approach.
Amarillo High School Alumni 25 Year Club will hold its annual business meeting and officer election Friday at 8 pm in the Club Room of the Amarillo Hotel. Milton Cox, acting secretary, said notices have been mailed. Eligibility includes anyone who attended AHS and has lived in Amarillo 25 years. Current officers are Dave Park president, Mrs. Martha Whitton vice president, and Milton Cox.
Albuquerque, once a town of 3,700 in 1890, has more than quadrupled its population over 50 years. Attorney W. A. Keleher cited statistics showing 1890 population 3,785 rising to 6,238 in 1900, 11,020 in 1910, 15,157 in 1920, and 26,570 in 1930.
J A Swayze of Canyon shows a massive lemon grown in San Antonio stock. The fruit measures fourteen inches in circumference and is described as perfectly proportioned and colored. The tree yields year round, providing ample lemons for the McHugo family.
New members admitted to the Lions Club today were Henry Beverly secretary of the Panhandle Building and Loan Association Simon Goldfine owner of Rip's Waffle Shop and M M Alexander of the Soil Conservation Service. Speaker for the luncheon was C P Brewer of the extension department of the University of Texas.
