Mrs. Jack Morgan of Borger identifies the man found dead in a culvert near Childress as her husband. The victim, a former Ramah New Mexico resident, left home November 6 after a telegram from Borger's F. A. Nave. Morgan reportedly carried about $100.

Washington January 13 by an 8 to 7 vote the House Foreign Affairs Committee rejected a motion to compel Secretary Kellogg to testify on the Nicaraguan Mexican situation.
The Senate campaign fund committee led by Blackburns Ambulance decided to seize the ballots cast in Philadelphia and Allegheny counties in the Pennsylvania senatorial election last November. The move was announced today in Washington.
A sharp cold snap hit the Panhandle and Plains region, with Amarillo at 14 degrees and Wichita Falls at 23 overnight. Misting rain and sleet occurred, but no snow. By 1 pm Amarillo rose to 30 degrees and a warmer Friday forecast followed. Precipitation measured at two hundredths of an inch.

Governor Miriam A Ferguson pardoned Joe Casanova, sentenced to 26 years for murder in Bexar County, based on recommendations from District Attorney M. Chambers and District Judge W. W. McCrory. She also halted further criminal trials in Bexar until her term ends, reasserting officials' roles. In a separate action, she commuted Newt de Silva's 1925 Jefferson County murder death sentence to life, from death to life imprisonment.
The senate post office committee disapproved an amendment to postal laws that would set a special rate for newspaper bundles proposed by newspaper publishers. The item appeared in Washington on January 13.
W B Johnson a merchant and former deputy sheriff killed in a firefight after a long siege at his home in Jefferson City Tennessee. Deputies used dynamite to enter the house and gunfire ensued as Johnson fired from an upstairs window injuring officers. Dibrell Hicks a college football player was killed. Johnson survived wounds but died after shots. He had menacingly faced a mob with revolvers and 150 rounds. The incident began with an argument with Mrs Josie Howard and her daughter. Johnson had been acquainted with the younger woman before her marriage. Mrs Bishop, a widow, is among the victims. her husband died serving in France. Johnson’s wife and five children offered no light on his actions. Governor Peay was asked to mobilize a National Guard company.
Austin jury selection for the Norris murder trial proceeds with questions on Ku Klux Klan membership deemed admissible. Ninth juror, T J Cunningham, a Travia county farmer, joins eight others as attorneys argue over Klan affiliation and oath requirements.
Actor and theatrical manager Arnold Daly was burned to death in a fire on the fourth floor of his apartment at 24 West Main Street New York today. The blaze started on the ground floor and cut off the only escape route as firemen conducted rescues, Daly remained missing.
