Plan carbon black plant in panhandle
The Phillips Petroleum company seeks a permit from the Texas Railroad Commission to burn waste residue gas in a carbon black plant about thirty miles east and seventeen miles north of Amarillo. They recently bought American Gasoline Corporation plants and are producing casing-head gasoline in Carson and Hutchinson counties. The permit would allow burning gas after casing-head gas has been extracted to manufacture carbon black. The commission set January 19 for the hearing in Austin.
