Slick Chick Passes Bad Checks in Amarillo Case
A young woman described as a slick chick with personality passed forged checks in Amarillo over two days. Authorities say she used the alias M. E. Smith on checks ranging from 40 to 150 dollars, with purchases at Franklin's Apparel Shop and Marizon Co. She gave an address at the Amarillo Hotel and is described as 20 to 25 years old, about 5 feet 7 inches, 150 pounds, brown hair, dressed in various outfits. Sheriff Bill Adams questioned why merchants will cash checks only with ID.

Troop Train Strikes Butane Truck Near Grand Avenue Crossing
An east bound Santa Fe troop train collided with a west bound butane trailer truck at the Grand Avenue crossing near midnight. The trailer and two railroad coaches burned. six people were hospitalized with burns and injuries but no serious harm. Engineer W W Miller and driver George Gonzales Lopez sustained injuries. Lopez and Puckett were sickened by burns and treated. Several others were released after treatment.
