The Associated Press reports Liza Grey Chaplin and Georges Carpentier were abducted after leaving a theater. Mrs Chaplin said four armed men confined them in a limousine, drove them over a mile, dumped them, and she lost $141,000 in jewelry. Page 2 coverage noted.
Mrs Beryl Hart and Lieut William MacLaren arrived in Bermuda yesterday in the Tradewind. They will stay overnight to await repairs to the oil feed line as weather prevents immediate departure for the Azores en route to Paris.
Mexico City dispatch reports President Ortiz Rubio laughed heartily when reading U S press dispatches about Senator Ashurst's plan to buy Lower California and part of Sonora. The president, vacationing in Acapulco, reportedly saw no need for an official comment.

Panhandle LumberContract awarded to McKnight Transfer to employ 37 men for paving 12 lots on Jackson Street between Thirty-Fifth and Thirty-Sixth Avenues, spending about 25000 dollars. Six workers already began, with 31 more jobs via Chamber of Commerce slated earlier.

In Houston Texas Christ mas card peddler M G Brady aged 65 was stabbed to death with an ice pick after an argument over 35 cents. Eddie Walsh 69 who was charged with murder said they had been drinking and could not recall the stabbing details.
An authoritative source says the Wickersham Commission prohibition report will be sent to Congress by President Hoover as soon as it is received. The document is completed and mimeographed, with a possible White House submission before the commission’s next meeting. Hoover chose prompt submission over leaders’ advice to delay debate.
In England Arkansas an increasing number of farmers appeal to Red Cross and civic leaders for food. C E Hankins reports 1141 families fed since December 15 with rationing to continue as long as possible amid crop failures. Outside aid is urged to prevent widespread starvation.
Moore Lynn state auditor urges the legislature to consider setting aside or amending the judgment of the 53rd District Court in Reagan county oil and gas leases. The special report is with the legislative committee probing UT land leases and will be debated at a Friday meeting. The judgment awarded the University $1,000,000 and confirmed lease titles to University lands.
Final arrangements are under way for a dental clinic by the Amarillo Potter County Health Unit. Dr Cr D Ewing will conduct the clinic four hours daily likely in a school building. The clinic, supported by the school board and city, targets defective schoolchildren teeth found in examinations.
More than 800 gallons of confiscated liquor were poured out today by the Potter County sheriff's department. The liquor had been held as evidence in raids and will be disposed of after related cases are settled.
Three unmasked assailants held up the American State Bank in Porum Oklahoma just after opening seizing cash in a sack at gunpoint. They forced three customers and the janitor to lie down and fled west in a small sedan as a posse chased but found no gun to fire.
Gov. Holloway granted a full pardon to J. E. Newell former cashier of Citizens' State Bank of Sketchee who was serving a 10 year sentence for embezzlement. The state banking department identified Newell as a brother of Dr. J. Q. Newell warden of the state penitentiary.
NBC previews reveal Bobby Jones will have 13 34 minutes on air for opening night of a 26 week series starting January 14. Bill Munday will narrate most of the program with 85 words about Jones and 108 about the sponsor. The show begins with a one minute intro and ends with a quarter minute closing.
Representative Fred Minor of Denton opens headquarters at the Stephen F. Austin Hotel in Austin as a potential speaker candidate for the 42nd Texas Legislature. His supporters claim enough votes on the first ballot, while opposition may form against a large state highway bond issue. Minor voted for a highway bond in the 41st session.
In Chicago on January 8 a Pekinese barking led residents to discover the strangled body of a young woman. A towel knotted at the neck showed evidence of a struggle. Neilsen, believed husband, denied knowledge and provided conflicting name details. Police say she had been dead at least 24 hours.
Four men indicted in the Roy Hawthorne torch murder case will go to trial January 26 in Fort Worth. Defendants Hugh D. Rutter, A. E. Stanley, Herbert Allen Stanley and James Loyd Casstevens were in jail. prior arrests for bank robbery in Alma were noted for two. Authorities believed Hawthorne was killed July 26, then burned near Lake Worth.
