Escape Compartments for Submarines Proposed by Simon Lake
Simon Lake proposes three safety devices for disabled submarines including forward and aft escape compartments with diving helmets, dual air hoses for clean air and foul air, and automatic double doors to keep sections watertight. The system uses compressed air to equalize water pressure, allowing crew to surface via a ladder and helmet exchange, with air supplied from the submarine.
