Weather notes predict a normal to warm 1941 with a strong crop year and defense related boom. Amarillo area sees potential smelter investments, wage scale, and a large temporary workforce as plans for a major plant upgrade unfold.
Funeral arrangements are pending for George Williams 79, pioneer outdoor advertiser of the Panhandle. Williams founded the Williams Sign Company, now Panhandle Outdoor Advertising, retiring in 1927. He died Wednesday in Eugene Oregon while visiting his daughter Mrs Ray Wiseman and eight grandchildren survive. He lived in Amarillo about 30 years and was a member of Central Presbyterian Church and the Elks.
J J Fowler 2 year retired tourist court operator died at 3 30 am in a local hospital after brief illness. He lived in Amarillo 14 years with daughter Mrs J B Diggs 403 Austin Street. Survived by another daughter Mrs M S White of Stamford and four sons C L Fowler and Lloyd Fowler of Abilene M T Fowler of Throckmorton and D J Fowler of Stephenville. He was a member of San Jacinto Methodist Church.

A widow seeks moth erless home work with children and housework experience and no town leaving. Ola Barnes and Mollie seek work as housekeepers or companions, while Sue Morton offers to work for a widower or any location for a small wage.
Chicago based C Martin Wilbur of the Field Museum says the Chinese whistling arrow from 200 B C preceded the scream bomb. The blunt head kept danger low while aimed to destroy civilian morale as emperors rode by.

County commissioners voted 735 to buy materials for January at the WPA sewing room. The C R Anthony Co bid was accepted. WPA funds the workers and distributes clothing to needy families. court recessed until Monday.
James Neill Northe of the Musical Arts Conservatory of West Texas was slugged and robbed at his apartment at 1710 Tyler Street. He reported $290 in jewelry and cash missing, including a topaz ring worth $50 and a pearl stickpin on platinum.
Mr Northe reported a bar room robbery after a man struck him at around 1 AM. He recovered consciousness at about 4 AM to find a diamond bar and cash missing, valued at $240 total. Police investigate the incident as a violent crime in the early hours.
Pat Pendergast a lunch stand owner in Holbrook exchanged words with a middle aged woman tourist, then they embraced. The woman Mrs D E Mitchell of Dallas Texas turned out to be his sister whom he had not seen in 20 years.
