Cabinet Pay Hike Seen for Great Britain Ministers
A special committee representing all English parties in London is studying ministerial salaries with expectations of raising pay. Previously nine years ago salaries ranged from 1,000 to 12,000 pounds, totaling 12,400 annually, but current ministers struggle to cover living costs and official duties. Ramsay MacDonald, earning about 5,000 pounds before tax, is highlighted as an example of income insufficient for housing and hospitality costs at 10 Downing Street.
