Slaughterers Ask Price Ltd Urges Livestock Price Fix
Metropolitan Meat Slaughterers Association says its members must shut down unless a price on livestock is imposed. They state neither wholesalers nor retailers can sell at a ceiling price while price-exempt livestock keeps rising in cost daily. The group, in a resolution to Price Stabilizer Michael V., said they have operated since Jan. 25 at severe losses and cannot operate much longer. The association claims its members supply New York and New Jersey with five million pounds of meat weekly.
