A runaway Pullman coach from the Sun Shine Special derailed on Bennnington curve near Altoona killing porter L Keys and injuring several passengers and a flagman. The car jumped to the tracks at Horseshoe Curve, sliding into the mountainside as passengers prayed and attempted to brake. Edward J Mulvihill aided victims and warned others as rescue crews arrived. Officials could not determine why the car uncoupled or brakes failed to set automatically.
