In Austin on February 26, Senator T. J. Holbrook of Galveston denied being influenced by Frederick Stinchfield of the American Bar Association or anyone else amid Senate opposition to Roosevelt's Supreme Court expansion. Congressman Roy Cannon alleged Stinchfield influenced the Texas Legislature. Holbrook said Stinchfield was not in Austin, or he did not know it. CROCKETT Calif Feb 26 David Locke faces trial on charges he chained his nine year old daughter Myrtie Belle to a bedstead with a dog collar and beat her. The courtroom moved to a gymnasium to handle the crowd with Judge Ray Standish warning of exclusion if noise continues. The girl testified she was hit with a belt and hand and that he threw a knife at her during meals and chained her for several days until a neighbor found her.
