The cameraman captured Col. and Mrs. Lindbergh at a New York broadcasting studio as Mrs. Lindbergh made a nationwide radio debut appealing for relief for Chinese flood sufferers. Lindbergh accompanied her, but his brisk stride stayed within camera range.
Independent Republicans report Gov Gifford Pinchot of Pennsylvania plans to challenge President Hoover for the nomination. He may offer his own name to unite anti Hoover sentiment with backing and broad support. Senator Borah discussed leadership but declined.
W. J. Gower of Amarillo faced trial in district court on arson and attempted arson charges linked to a November 21 duplex fire at 508 North Taylor Street. State witnesses testified of kerosene fumes and a kerosene pan found in the attic, with auto inners tubes arranged in hose fashion.
Dry, fair conditions dominate. Amarillo today stays between 40 and 60 degrees from noon to 1 PM. West Texas expected fair tonight and Saturday with partial cloudiness on Saturday. New Mexico likewise fair tonight and Saturday with little temperature change.

An alleged bank robbery and kidnapper, who gave the name J. W. Ward of Fort Worth, Texas, was shot and dangerously wounded in a Bogalusa police gun battle at Bowley's swamp near McNeill Mississippi. His companion Hill escaped into a swamp and was surrounded by a heavily armed posse. The pair were accused of a spree of service station robberies in South Mississippi, culminating in a $5,000 Bank of Lumberton heist two days earlier.
Fifteen drunks and alleged vagrants were in Amarillo's city jail Friday morning. Police activities Thursday night filled the corporation court at city hall Friday with docket activity. Few detainees had funds to pay fines. Both men and women were on the docket.

Japanese naval aviators began a wide campaign to destroy Chinese aviation fields around Shanghai while another attack northwest of Klangwan failed to gain ground. A Hangchow airfield was bombed, several Chinese planes were destroyed, and more fields were hit later in the day.
The well dressed 25 year old Pauline Caporina was found beaten and face down in a ditch eight miles from Houston. Police believe she was murdered and dumped from a car. Bystanders Water Is Bloody R L Felder and D A Hunter described bloody water and torn clothes indicating a violent struggle. Justice Overstreet called the case one of the most brutal murders in years.
Moscow reports reveal sharp Soviet dissatisfaction with Japanese troop transport plans to Manchuria and alleged support for anti-Soviet White Russian forces. Karakhan pressed Ambassador Hirota for confirmation on four reports, including troop movements via the Chinese Eastern Railway and reduced fares for soldiers. War brief reports Ritter fighting in Kiangwan with Chinese forces holding the town after surrounding. Japanese air raids target Hangchow airport and claim destruction of Chinese ships. Moscow cites a Soviet demand for explanation of Japan’s troop transit on the Chinese Eastern Railway toward the Siberian frontier.
Lieut Governor Edgar Witt of Waco and State Senators Walter Woodward and Clint Small of Amarillo plan to enter the Democratic gubernatorial race if Gov Ross Sterling does not announce re election. Witt and Woodward have led Sterling campaigns and wrestle for West Texas support as Witt seeks to win the second primary against Ma Ferguson. Rivalry widened by a Garner rally dispute over a committee listing Witt was initially omitted then added after an explanation.
Khiva Shrine Temple hosts the Surprise Party for nobles and their wives with a secretive program at 8 15 pm. A new orchestra provides the dance music, admission by 1932 card and sez, and broadcasts are planned. Panhandle nobles expected. committee includes Mr and Mrs Frank Storm and others.
A major mud and gravel slide at High Point Lumber Company near Issaquah Washington crushed a bunk house, killing six men believed buried under the debris. Two bodies were recovered by rescue crews after the slide.
