A diamond ring donated by Hurst Jewelry Company will be awarded at the Shoe Fund Ball on Saturday night. The octagon-cut white gold ring valued at $25 will highlight a night that also features the Shoe Fund Revue by Les Nurnie and his pupils and music by Wilbur Upchurch and his Vice Versa Birds. All proceeds go to the Shoe Fund.
The News-Globe Publix announces a new pricing plan for matinees. Children under 18 pay ten cents, while adults now pay 25 cents. The change aims to restore a children centered matinee. Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Fair Theater features Bert Wheeler and Robert Woolsey in Hook Line and Sinker.
Henry Fields of Borger was acquitted yesterday afternoon after a five minute jury deliberation in a liquor law case. Defense showed liquor was mistakenly placed in Fields's car borrowed for a fishing trip. The case moved from Canyon after a prior mistrial.
