Proclamation signed by Mayor Lawrence Hagg and Chief M E Pierce designates Feb 22 to 29 as Fill the Fleet Week. Text urges citizens to support nationwide effort to enlist personnel for the United States Fleet and to ensure its readiness for national security.
A. D. Scott, formerly of Vernon, is named deputy tax assessor in the city tax office. He was previously employed by Perry Burks, city tax assessor-collector. His duties include block by block surveys for property evaluations for tax purposes.
At the Amarillo Osteopathic Hospital Auxiliary quarterly meeting dates May 20 to 23 were chosen for the annual Child Health Clinic fourth in the series. The clinic at the Herring Hotel will seek a renowned pediatrician for the service. Dr John Witt of Groom was named to the hospital board of directors. Dr Ralph Soper of Amarillo led a technical talk on heart disease.
Graveside services for Miss Elizabeth Coates, 27, who died Tuesday at the family home in Topeka Kansas, will be held at 10:30 tomorrow in Liano Cemetery. Dr. R. officiates. She was daughter of Mr and Mrs C G Coates long residents of Amarillo. Father deceased 1939. Survived by mother and four brothers. N B Griggs & Sons in charge of burial arrangements.
