The record lists receipts totaling 377.18 for beer and wine licenses 832 in occupation taxes 67 50 and insol vent taxes 6 02. Of the collected funds 22307.99 were forwarded to the State treasurer 28486.39 to the county treasurer 2894.14 to the salary fund 1928.73 to district schools remittances to the state liquor control board and funds held on hand for un approved beer licenses.
For the week ending Feb 15 the Santa Fe System moved 26 037 carloads, up from 23 429 in the same week of 1946. Cars from connections totaled 10 623, above 8 710 last year. Total cars moved reached 36 660 versus 32 139 in 1946, while the preceding week this year showed 35 022 cars handled.
Rev. John Crawford Corbin of the Board of Foreign Missions will be principal speaker at First Presbyterian Church Family Night. The evening features a 6 15 supper, a study on India, and groups for children. Corbin, a Pas saic native, has served churches in Nova Scotia and Pennsylvania and was a naval chaplain for two and a half years, including time in Japan and the Philippine Islands.
Mr. Corbin, longtime Presbyterian committee member on Evangelism, serves on the General Assembly National Committee and will discuss India in a church meeting. A display of Indian war items is planned for the evening, with dismissal at 8. Bible class on Old Testament Studies by Rev. Garner S. Odell will follow for one hour.
Mr. and Mrs. Stina Cain of 1407 West Eighteenth welcomed a son, Bobbie Glen, born on St. Valentine’s Day at Northwest Texas Hospital. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Ott Eckert of 1608 Jackson.
Warren Better, 52, of 2503 Cleveland, was hospitalized at St. Anthony's after a stroke suffered Saturday following a October accident that broke his leg. Attendants said he seems to be improving today.
