R W Stephens Taken by Death at 68 in Claude

Robert W. Stephens farmer of Claude died early today in a local hospital at age 68. He lived in Claude since 1905 and is survived by wife two sons J H Stephens of Conway and R W Stephens Jr of Canadian one daughter Clyde Stephens of Maybank two sisters Mrs Elia Flowers of Maybank and Mrs Abbie Lester of Dallas. The Blackburn Shaw Funeral home is handling arrangements.

War Dads and Legionnaires Plan Joint Meeting

Plans for a joint meeting of American War Dads and the American Legion were set for March 7. Committees met in the Fisk Building with N. F. Nelson of the War Dads and Otto Landis of the Legion. Armillo College was considered as a possible venue with no final arrangements.

Graveside Services For Frankie Jan Wright

Graveside services for Frankie Jan Wright infant daughter of Mr and Mrs John F Wright of Fritch were held at Llano Cemetery at 4 this afternoon with Rev Frank A Godsoe officiating. The baby died at 8 last night in a local hospital. Survivors include her parents and one sister Carmen.

San Angelo Sergeant Escapes Fatal Fortress Crash

Flying Fortress base in England reports Sgt. Alton R. Bell of San Angelo Texas was away from his tail gunner seat when a crash hit his aircraft. He left his post to check the tail wheel before the pilot guided the plane to land. Bell survived as the ship struck the tail area during the approach.
