A Kansas man offered to spend 24 hours fighting six ghosts near Snake Creek Okmulgee county pledging $1000 to run or be paid $1000 if he stayed. Officials disclosed only that the volunteer is a Kansan and that the claim was sent to county authorities.
Poplar Bluff Missouri February 16 A young woman Mary Jackson 24 wife of farmer real Fisk found in a shallow grave a mile from town. Marion Jackson 18 years old husband and Karl Jackson 15 son by a former marriage held under arrest awaiting coroner jury. Jackson denies any part in the murder saying they had agreed to disagree but they had corresponded since her disappearance.
Reports from Austin say George J. Hassell of Farwell, noted for a confessed killing, was expected to appeal his death sentence but records show no such filing. Olin W. Finger, clerk of the court of criminal appeals, said no appeal had reached his office.
