In a Wolflin School seventh grade room students marked Lincolns birthday with strong perfumes filling the air. Teachers opened windows as the fumes overwhelmed the space, and students awaited noon recess for relief from the odor.

David W. Bell of 1904 East Eighth suffered head cuts as his car collided with a southbound vehicle driven by Bernard J. Deavers and another car driven by John C. Hopper at Seventh and Buchanan. Bell received emergency treatment and was taken to a doctor. Hopper's vehicle went west on Seventh and sustained severe damage.
The U S S Mount Olympus report a inland oasis on the South Pole continent with muddy pea green lakes and 500 foot conical mounds in a 40 mile region inland from Knox coast. Navy explorers call the find significant for geology and geography and wonder if climate could support year round settlement.
Amarillo Oldsmobile dealer J C Christopher purchased the 60 by 140 foot building at 810 Tyler from G C Odom for 65000 in county records. The deal secures the Amarillo Motor Co. site.
Senator Morse pressed the NLRB to address charges by Weirton Steel's attorney that the board targeted a non affiliated union at the West Virginia plant. Earl Reed accused NLRB reps of attending CIO meetings and bribing independent union officers to defect. NLRB withheld immediate comment but hoped for testimony from Chairman Herzog or another official.

A Dallas warrant officer T. D. Hale directing a search for a bandit in a stolen Ford near Bonham died in a private plane crash. The capture effort, the region’s largest manhunt in years, followed the thief using his fifth stolen car in seven hours.
A 25 year old suspect armed with two guns led a 36 hour crime spree with four burglaries two holdups and four stolen cars. He kidnapped two Bogota service station operators Edgar S Stewart 24 and W S Stewart 22 and forced them toward Paris before releasing them and driving off in the car. He attempted to shoot at pursuers near a street corner, wrecked a new car, fled in another, and was last seen heading toward Dallas as highways were blocked from Paris south. Police describe him as 6 feet tall 160 pounds blonde wearing a khaki shirt and army jacket with no hat.
