Plans to reorganize the Kansas City Mexico and Orient railroad to revive the line and create an outlet through Mexico and the west will be filed in federal court March 25 for approval. The sale to Clifford Histed and associates for 3 million dollars and a 2.225 million rehabilitation fund are included, with 1 million sought from promoters and 1.225 million to be raised by a Kemper syndicate. Underwriters would take 2.35 million in common stock, with expected government aid. the line runs through eighty five towns dependent on its operation.
J. L. Faubion was convicted in district court of forgery and sentenced to three years in the penitentiary. Prosecutors said he secured a loan from the Hamoun-Whittington Mortgage Co by posing as H. Mahoney, owner of the land. Four additional indictments allege connected offenses.
In Washington on February 7 an isolated infant death occurred when the mother, an unwed woman, attempted to burn the baby in a furnace to conceal the act. The event drew national attention to issues of infanticide and social stigma.
Los Angeles Feb 7 Plans to lynch C B Stone father of actor Jack Hoxie who is charged with murdering Nina and May Martin were frustrated today when he was placed in solitary confinement in the county jail. A revengeful mob armed with shotguns and rope waited in vain at the crime scene.
About 261 traveling men from Amarillo territory attended the annual banquet hosted by the Board of City Development. R E Bob Meyers of Plainview praised Amarillo and pledged support for the 1925 West Texas chamber of commerce convention. Dr George T Thomas explained the banquet’s purpose while A N Oliver urged boosting the Tri-State exposition.

Austin, Feb 7. The joint prison investigating committee heard officials and a former convict discuss prison management. Dr John H Hartman Walker Sayle and Judge Smith testified including an alleged pardon bribe offer. Hartman described cruel treatment on Harlem farm and harsh disciplinary measures.
At Nearman Kansas two Missouri Pacific trains collided killing fireman D R Wise and injuring eight others including three Fort Leavenworth soldiers. The Omaha to Kansas City passenger locomotive derailed after striking a freight engine, with six remaining injuries reported and Wise dying in a local hospital.
Britain informs France via note from Lord Crewe that the Baldwin government is ready to talk debt settlement on the basis of the Balfour agreement. Britain will collect from its debtors only what is necessary to pay the United States.
In Louisville on February 7 Albert Lee Greaver aged 12 died from burns after reportedly crawling into an unused furnace during the night and sleeping there. A janitor relit the furnace this morning and heard screams before finding the boy engulfed in flames.
The Land Owners' league committee plans to urge a carbon black bill in the Texas legislature this week. J. Mack Sanford, C. H. Lockhart, G. C. McConnell, and Henry Shafer form the panel traveling to Austin to seek support for a measure authorizing burning natural gas in Moore, Hutchinson, Roberts, Gray, Carson and Wheeler counties. The executive and legislative committees backed moving ahead with the proposal and expect broad county backing.
Spokane reports a wall of water from the Moses Lake dam burst as heavy rains overwhelmed the structure. The flood roared through Crab Valley near Ephrata Grant County, forcing ranchers to higher ground and livestock to safety. No deaths reported. total damage unknown at nightfall.
San Diego February 7 Kostelle Taylor famous screen star married boxing champion Jack Dempsey at the U S Grant Hotel. Joe Benjamin acted as best man and Helen Taylor was maid of honor. Guests included Mrs Ce Celia Dempsey and the champion's mother. The couple plan no honeymoon for weeks as Dempsey resumes business matters.
The Rev. A Reilly Copeland pastor of the Tabernacle Baptist church in Waco was fined 1000 dollars after a grand jury indicted him for criminal libel against Miss Adelaide Hague a public health nurse. The trial reached a verdict and the court imposed the penalty.
Wynkoop Kiersted, a Kansas City water engineer, urged Amarillo to first drill wells and install pumping gear with a pipeline and distribution system, then build a dam and reservoir. He said eighteen months to complete the wells and pipes, with the dam only afterward, stressing a visible water supply to attract insurers and industry.
A photoplay titled Do You Want a Big Wedding Do You Want a Big Wedding will be shown at the Mission theater on Wednesday. A Polk Street chase ended with QO. E. Sloan, a grand jury bailiff, firing twice at Clarence Wilmering inside Lindsay drug store after pursuing him from Fourth and Polk. Bullets narrowly missed bystanders including James Gardner and a waiting customer. crowd and business leaders condemn the incident and plan a grand jury complaint. Wilmering later surrendered on bond for alleged prohibition law violation.
Pant High a Dallas farmer testified that he supplied dope to Maude Lynch Dewey Ross Leonard Stallworth and Fay Spencer to ease his lover Anetia Wilson’s cravings. The group operated in Dallas Fort Worth after leaving Galveston and were jailed awaiting sentencing next week.
