A historic cold snap sweeps Amarillo and the Panhandle with eight degrees below zero. The coldest since 1930 fails to beat the all time record from 1898, while livestock and residents suffer through the severe chill.

Co A Burns head of the Bureau of Criminal Identification told Oklahoma Senate oil investigators he sent a state operative to Dallas to fetch Ray C Walker a relative of Mrs William H Murray for questioning. Walker was sought in connection with alleged illegally produced oil run by a syndicate operating in an insurance office after a conference with Gov Murray and Col. Murray at the executive mansion last Wednesday night.
Count Albert Apponyi, renowned Hungarian statesman, died in Geneva after a brief illness at age 87. His long career included leading roles in diplomacy and education and he was a prominent figure in Hungarian politics. The death marks the end of a significant era in Central European affairs.
In Miami on February 7, reports say Jesse H. Jones of Houston Texas may assume the chairmanship of the Reconstruction Finance Corporation after March 4. Jones already serves on the commission and was a key figure for Alfred E. Smith at the 1928 Democratic convention.
