Aguinaldo, leader of the Philippine Insurrection, spoke before veterans in Manila during debate over a Philippine Independence bill. While advocating independence, he opposed the measure in its current form.
Mrs. Mary Skeele, 65, wife of the University of Southern California music dean, was abducted from her Los Angeles home by a carborne gang. They demanded $10,000 ransom by 5:30 PM, threatening harm if police were notified. Police suspect an organized gang studied the family's movements.
Mutinous native sailors seized control of the Dutch cruiser De Zeven Provincien at Batavia on February 6. They claimed to head for Sourabaya to deliver the ship to naval authorities in protest of wage cuts and arrests. Nine Dutch officers were kidnapped. one escaped by rowboat. No injuries reported as the crew demanded surrender.

Feb 6 report notes Cone Johnson veteran Texas highway commissioner shows no improvement after a relapse worsened his condition. Johnson, active in politics since 1886, led Texas delegation to 1912 Democratic convention and advised Bryan. His term ends Feb 15 and he was not reappointed by Gov. Ferguson.

Houston Feb 6 A 24 year old Stanley Caton was seriously injured when his car overturned outside the city and then another car carrying him to a hospital skidded into a ditch. His condition was critical. Two other men were slightly injured in the accidents.
Duncan Thomas faced a burglary charge in the McKinley school cafeteria theft case. He pleaded guilty and sought a suspended sentence after Deputy Constables seized part of the food supplies and a written confession was filed. The defense and prosecution were led by local officials in Canyon.
East Bernard citizens condemn the Ferguson administration in a formal resolution sent to Sen. T. J. Holbrook of Galveston on February 6. The document criticizes perceived antagonism and urges acknowledgment of local concerns.
Senator Huey P Long aided a rapid settlement of a bank crisis at Hibernia Bank in New Orleans. In Oklahoma City on February 6 the government forfeited C. C. Julians $25,000 bond after he failed to appear in the mail fraud trial involving more than 60 defendants tied to the Julian Oil and Royalties Company. About 50 defendants pleaded not guilty.
Washington reports that the simple formality at the state department completed the lame duck amendment's path into the constitution today after a lengthy and tiring process through Congress and state legislatures.
James Crabtree, 54, went on trial in Miller County circuit court today on murder charges in the fatal Oct. 19 shooting of Melvin Brackman, 43, and deputy sheriff J. C. Crain, 43.
AUSTIN Feb 6 The Texas Senate passed Holbrook's plan to suspend state employee salaries for the next biennium except constitutional ones and to fix pay in the appropriations bill. The chamber also approved 21 to 4 a 190000 defrayment of martial law costs in the East Texas oil field, with critics arguing constitutional evasion and noting 91000 of regular adjutant general funds were used. Senator Purl urged funding from the railroad oil and gas fund rather than general revenue.
