Chicago December 29 A Hoover statement that the worth of a bushel wheat equals the price England charges for rubber sent wheat prices sharply higher. Wheat futures rose seven cents a bushel with December at 1.890 and May at 1.8544, setting new seasonal high marks.
Senator Burton Wheeler of Montana wins dismissal of all charges in a DC conspiracy case over oil and gas land permits. The DC supreme court up held a demurrer and tossed Wheeler Booth and Campbell indictments. The court held the land act did not cap permits to one prospector and the case may not proceed absent an appeal. Wheeler says the decision ends the persecutions and he can focus on Senate work.
Pete Gilvin returns from the Rio Grande valley with stories of opportunities and sample citrus. He promotes a group excursion leaving Saturday at 5 40 over the Fort Worth and Denver, round trip 35 dollars with meals and berth, returning Thursday afternoon to Amarillo.
