Brig. Gen. Smedley Butler withdrew his resignation from the Marine Corps. He will return to Philadelphia briefly to arrange private affairs, then report to Washington and head to San Diego in late January to command the Marine base there.

Attorney General Dan Moody filed suit in the fifty third district court against the Paul Process Development Company led by M. K. Townes seeking annulment of its charter. Moody alleges the firm claimed to hold $100,000 in sums and was formed April 23, 1925 to operate pump stations refineries and a dehydration process for oil.
In heavy fog thirty miles north of Van Conver the Lady Cynthia rammed and sank the Cowichan. The freighter sank in eleven minutes after the collision. The Lady Cynthia rescued 14 passengers and 31 crew members aboard the freighter.
