Cattlemen noted low risk of death loss unless the storm worsens. Forecast calls for 12 degrees below zero today.
The Dallas weather bulletin warns a new cold wave will sweep north central and west Texas tomorrow with Dallas area temperatures near zero and below in West Texas. Corpus Christi Texas March 27 W W Jones prominent cattle man says losses to cattlemen in central and southern Texas from the sleet storm and cold wave will not exceed five per cent and likely not more than two and a half. He reports cattle in good condition with shelter at his Hebronville ranch after supervising storm work.

Fort Worth Dec 27 J E Boog Scott head of the state sanitary livestock commission orders a quarantine on poultry shipments from other states. The precaution aims to shield Texas poultry from the chicken plague. All Texas bound poultry cars will be disinfected before admission and railroads notified.
On April 7, 1918 Miss Evelyn Monts a Bailey county school teacher was shot and killed in Texas. Authorities offered a $1 000 reward for John Teal a rancher linked to the crime. The case links to Bailey Castro and Lamb counties and to a later 1924 El Centro shooting involving Deputy Bowen.
Julius Jordan and Billy Newman both 15 were in a staged duel with shotguns at seventy-five feet. Jordan was dying tonight after being shot in the face and head. Newman fled after a threat to “get” Jordan. Both were part of a neighborhood gang. the incident drew a crowd of about thirty watchers.
Brooklyn dispatch reports four people found dead in a Fifth Avenue apartment blocked in with furniture and gas escaping from four jets. Victims include Mrs. Anna Herricks 28 her son John her daughter Catherine 9 and her brother Allen Berkshire 40. Three other gas deaths occurred in New York today.
Potter county and the state spent more than 2000 in the murder trial of Mrs Ruth Hobart and K T Dusty Miller over I W Hobart s death. Jury fees were 528 and costs totaled 2096 39 with expenses for witnesses laundry and jurors. The trial ran December 8 to 22 without a verdict.
The Amarillo Real Estate board will hold an open meeting at the Amarillo hotel Friday at 12 18 o clock. T. M. Bruner, president, will lead the program and promise a surprise of great interest to every citizen. Details will be announced at the luncheon. The surprise is the first of several 1925 projects for Amarillo.
Dallas reporting six year old Maxine Ayres died after her dress caught fire while she played near a backyard blaze. The brief item notes the fatal accident occurred today. The fragment about a Coffee Shop at the Amarillo Hotel labeled Famone For Faad appears unrelated and incomplete.
Berlin reports Karl Denke a Silesian farmer confessed to at least six murders with evidence pointing to a dozen more. He used human skin for suspenders and twine and ate pickled flesh. A massive gunpowder blast on Oteru harbor front in Hokkaido province killed 110 people and injured 200. Fire swept the waterfront as 1608 houses were damaged and the town’s port area suffered extensive destruction.
James C. Russell, motorman for the Amarillo Traction Co., was injured last night when his street car collided with a truck on the 30tar line near his route. Russell likely suffered a broken jaw and was taken to Northwest Texas hospital. Truck driver BE Rankin sustained minor injuries and aided Russell at the scene.
Washington, Dec. 27 Congress returns from recess to act on Muscle Shoals and postal pay issues. Senate leaders aim to advance the Sterling bill to fund a 68 million dollar salary raise for postal workers and clear final disposition of the matter next week. Off stage work continues to resolve the Muscle Shoals muddle and the Underwood plan remains under disfavor pending postal pay solution.
The second trial for Ruth Hobart and E. T. Dusty Millar on murder charges in the E. W. Hobart case is expected to have its venue location announced next week. Clarence attorney J A Simpson is likely to travel here midweek for the change, with Judge Henry S. Bishop stating he will confer with the district attorney and defense before the announcement.
