Medal of Honor awarded posthumously to Pfc Manuel Perez Jr
The War Department grants the Medal of Honor to Pfc Manuel Perez Jr of Oklahoma City for a daring assault on a Japanese pillbox in the Philippines. Perez, killed in action a month later at Santo Tomas, is praised for killing multiple snipers, flanking the pillbox, and charging with a captured rifle before dying. The award will be presented to his father in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.

Miss Brint Taken to Fort Worth Hospital After Car Crash
Nancy Brint, injured in a Saturday night automobile accident, was taken to Fort Worth in a Blackburn-Shaw ambulance and will be admitted to Methodist Hospital for a serious leg injury. She is the daughter of Mrs. A. L. Brint and William Lampe, both residents of Texas, who were in a collision with another car.

Crash kills 15 year old in Bushland region incident
Lee Roy Rea of Bushland drove the car in a crash that killed Bessie Fern Rea, 15. Rea, Elton Love and Bobby Ruth Moore survived and left the hospital Monday. William Lampe, back from his naval base, remained in Amarillo Field Hospital with a scalp wound and leg injury.

Priests Sentenced to Death in Ljubljana Collaboration Trial
Seven teen defendants including two Catholic priests were sentenced to death in a Ljubljana mass trial of collaborationists in Belgrade. Sixteen others received forced labor from eight to twenty years, with one acquittal. One priest was found to have served as chaplain for a home guard unit aiding the Nazis.
