Five held in flats battle in Amarillo

Amarillo police arrest five suspects after a robbery and gun battle in the Flats area. Officers say Roy Barnhille and Riley Patton led the raid on Alford Tate’s home, taking $62 and wounding Tate. Patton allegedly fired at Officer White, who gave chase as the scene unfolded.

Trio borrows hearse for early joy ride

Indicted for Murder in Ledeg Drugstore Killing

Nicholas V Trocter and Ellery Roberts face murder charges in the killing of Leo J Ledeg Amarillo druggist on September 10. The pair, already in Leavenworth for interstate auto theft, were named by Mildred Stringer who said one suspect fired as the store resisted robbery. Lakes to Gulf Airway to Be Given Beacons

The commerce department plans to light the Great Lakes Gulf Airway in 1928. Beacons will extend the Kansas City Chicago route to Dallas and Galveston, enabling mail planes to fly Chicago to the gulf without stops. Weather reports by radio for in air flights are another planned improvement.
