Navy official concedes no hope for S-4 crew

Rear Admiral Frank H. Brumby announced after 113 hours that there is no longer hope for life aboard the sunken submarine S-4 near Provincetown Massachusetts. He said suspension timing rests with Washington, with salvage leaders agreeing there is no longer room for hope for the six men trapped in the torpedo room.

Divers Resume S-4 Salvage Operations In Provincetown

The sunken submarine S-4 salvage effort resumed at 8 15 a m with divers instructed to survey the wreck and determine depth and damage before attempting to raise it. Air from the Falcon had filled the torpedo room for more than 10 hours as rescuers hoped for survivors.

RL to Start New Passenger Service Amarillo to Stinnett

The Rock Island will begin passenger service on a three times weekly schedule between Amarillo and Stinnett on January 2. Trains depart Amarillo at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and return at 12:45 p.m. on the following Tuesday Thursday and Saturday, carrying passengers baggage mail and express.

Whisky and beer dumped from city jail in major seizure disposal

More than 200 gallons of whisky and up to 2,000 bottles of beer were flushed down the jail drain this morning. The liquor, seized by the sheriff's department over recent months, was disposed of under orders issued yesterday by District Judge Bishop, one of the largest such accumulations on record for the city.

Potter County Soil Survey Planned for Next Spring

A Potter County soil survey will begin early next spring, per A B Conner of the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station. Judge rules in Teapot Case on witness intimidation

Justice Siddons orders the government to clear up accusations of witness intimidating before combining contempt and intimidation charges in the oil jury tampering case. The decision comes after counsel agreed to merge the two charges and follows hearings in Washington.

Lindberghs Mother Reaches Tampico for Christmas Visit
