Chicago reports four murders and a suicide in a pre Christmas gang feud spike. Joseph Brooks, soft drink parlor owner, and alleged dynamiter Edward Harmening, a county highway patrolman, were found dead in a sedan in a south side park. Two retired policemen quarreled in a bank lobby, one shot the other, then killed himself.
In Houston on December Walhter a baby, 21 months old, died at a hospital from drinking a half pint of whisky found at the home of his father Mo M Casmino. Casmino said the bottle was his Christmas supply and the child apparently found it. Doctors reported the infant suffered alcohol poisoning after initial attempts to treat its intoxication.
Amarillo approves revised traffic ordinance with emergency designation. One dissent by Mayor Lee Biving. Adds new streets to time limit and parallel parking zones. Backed by city manager and auto dealers committee. Effective today with penalties from 1 to 200 dollars.
City commission session ends with the Bart lett Jones resignation motion failing to attract a second. Commissioner Fisk sought resignations of city manager Jeff D. Bartlett and city engineer H B Jones and called for new appointments, but the motion died after no second. McLean Nebraska area Wheeler county reports rising interest in the Katchelhoffer No 1 well four miles east of McLean. Oakes and four daughters Gladys Estelle Coleen Eloise Oakes and Dorothy Carter. burial planned in Dalhart with arrangements pending.
Amarillo's 1.75 million water bonds received a seven to one approval Monday and will be advertised for sale January 26 in New York newspapers and bond magazines. Bonds carry four and a half percent interest with no maturities for five years, then mature in blocks of fifty thousand dollars yearly. The city commission expressed confidence the bond market remains favorable. The January 31 tax limit and city limit extension election was ordered approved at the meeting.
Dallas officials granted the street railway company permission to operate six motor buses into areas not served by trolley lines. Company officials announced the buses would run within thirty days.
