Jaycees Fill Big Baskets For Needy of Amarillo

Amarillo Junior Chamber of Commerce members packed 6 000 pounds of potatoes 12 000 pounds of sugar 2 000 pounds of beans and other foods for Christmas distribution by the Amarillo Basketeers. Santa Fe Promotes Two In Freight Department

The Panhandle Santa Fe Railway announces H. H. Nye and James P. Hackler promoted to assistant general freight agent positions effective January 1, 1939. Nye succeeds J. J. Lane. Hackler becomes assistant general freight agent. Ezra Morton and Tloyd T. Parkinson receive promotions in the same department. Nye, with 30 years at Santa Fe, and Hackler, longtime Amarillo employee, are praised for rate expertise.

Pampan Hit on Road Succumbs in Oklahoma

Lloyd Karl Eldredge a 32 yearold Pampa tool dresser died at St Anthonys Hospital from injuries after being struck by a car on Highway 60 near Panhandle Tuesday. The body remained at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home and will likely be sent to Sapulpa Okla for burial. Surviving are his wife and three children Wanda Lou Lloyd Jr and Carrie Margaret plus his Sapulpa parents. He stepped from his stalled auto to wave down a following car and walked into the path of the other vehicle.

Teacher and Groom Man Involved in City Crash at noon

A car driven by Esther Boulware a Buchanan Street School teacher and a car driven by Rhea Robbins from Groom collided at Sixth Avenue and Fillmore Street at noon today. Both drivers escaped injury and the impact occurred as the teacher’s car turned left toward a filling station while both were moving south on Fillmore.

Amarillo Man's Mother Found Dead in New Mexico Home

Mrs. L. E. Vincent aged 80 was found dead in bed at her daughter Mrs. Woody Southard's home in Kenna New Mexico. She was the mother of Oscar Vincent of Amarillo and survived by two sons Cleveland and Dan in Oklahoma City. Death occurred early Tuesday.
