No Raises in 19 Years for Congressmen
Washington dispatch notes that Congress has not had a personal salary raise in 19 years. Lawmakers earn 10 000 dollars yearly since 1925, with past increases from 5 000 to 7 500 in 1907 and 7 500 to 10 000 in 1925. Some labor officials favor a raise to prevent Congress from becoming a rich man’s club.
