A grand jury indicted Charles Howard for negligent homicide in the November leopard attack that fatally injured 4 year old James Evins in Littlefield. Howard, who displayed the leopard in a drug store, is jailed in Plainview. The leopard was sent to a Clovis zoo and later killed. The charge is a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail or a $1000 fine.
The House approved the Wood bill to add 150 million dollars for the Farm Board, with final passage without opposition. The measure moves to the Senate as officials project 110 million more for next year, totaling 500 million under the Farm Marketing Act.
Six indictments based on Colquit Davis 19 year old bandit confession accuse him of robbery with firearms in six local stores. Each count is a capital offense with potential death or life imprisonment. Davis moved from county jail to Hall county jail then Electra early Wednesday with Ardmore officers. He also faces a murder charge for killing deputy Don Keirsey at Ardmore, fate of transfer to Ardmore or other city for safekeeping unclear.
More than 500 laborers, all heads of families or county residents over a year, applied for work on Pot ter County's new courthouse. The file included residence length, dependents, and prior employment, with many awaiting registration as others planned to file. First crew to dig the courthouse excavation could start by week’s end.
Thieves forced entry to the Acme Laundry office at 300 North Tyler Street, lifting the front of the safe and taking about $557 in cash. Bookkeeper Alvis Burns and city commissioner J N Vernon found the scene at 7 20 am Thursday, noting the safe door had been lifted and the robbers spent time on the job.

LT ALBANS Vt December 18 Frank A Greene United States senator from Vermont died yesterday in a local hospital following hernia surgery. His two sons Stuart of Boston and Capt Richard Greene U S A stationed at Fort Sill Okla were en route home. His wife and daughter Mrs Harris Alexander were at his side. Greene had been paralyzed since 1924 after a stray bullet during a gar fight between bootleggers and prohibition agents in Washington. He supported Coolidge and was carried into the Senate to vote on the vetoed bonus bill.
A blast leveled the front of a 100 foot building while rear walls stood. Two men fled just before the explosion. Mrs Hmon Brown aided injured, Devine and Smith buried to shoulders. Fire followed as 50 workers cleared debris to reach Mrs Devine. Smith’s condition worsened. he planned a Texas visit over the holidays.
Santa Fe railroad witnesses outlined the rise of motor truck and bus transport as cross examination revealed freight and passenger totals for Panhandle Plains routes. They warned increased regulation by the Interstate Commerce Commission would shape rates and competition, noting short-term gains from T P and P pickup service but potential long-term rate cuts.
