Amarillo invites every resident with a tune to join a community Christmas carol on the court house lawn at 7 30 this Christmas Eve. Funeral services for Edward James Smith a long time Panhandle resident were held this afternoon from the family home in Happy. Luther Roberts minister of the Central Church of Christ officiated Pallbearers included J. D. Maynard Ernest White Jim Strohmeyer Homer LaRoe Harry Woods and H. C. Swartz. He died yesterday at age 85 survived by his wife four sons and two daughters Burial is in the Happy cemetery under Griggs Thompson Funeral Home direction
Amarillo Real Estate Board elected new officers at a luncheon in the Amarillo Hotel. C. P. Atwood will be president H. N. Wheeler vice president W. A. Askew secretary treasurer for a third term. New directors include Hugo H. Loewenstern C P Elliott George H Turnley and M F Taylor for two years and W H Van Shaw for one year to fill O J Clark’s term. Carry-over directors are T M Bruner J M Donaldson and Royce Gant. Retiring directors are T W Cotten J Hal Brown H N Wheeler and John B Gilvin.

Amarillo Basketeers chapter of the Amarillo Junior Chamber of Commerce organizes a first stock of Christmas baskets for needy families.
