U S customs agents along the border press a campaign against marijuana smuggling from Mexico into the United States. They report the weed grown in Sonora Jalisco Sinaloa and Nayarit is cultivated in Mexican villages and sold cheaply on the American side. The effort follows federal laws enacted last August and echoes decades of narcotics enforcement led by H J Anslinger with Mexican cooperation under President Lazaro Cardenas.

Word has been received of the death of Joe Lemons a 58 year old Slaton resident who formerly lived in Amarillo. Lemons dropped dead at his home in Slaton yesterday noon. A brother J E Lemons lives at 401 Arthur Street here.
The Girl Scouts of Amarillo will present a Christmas radio program on Radio KGNC scheduled for December 22 at 4 45 PM. The event showcases local youth in a festive Sunday broadcast.
