Cattle Sales Dominated Amarillo Panhandle Trade
Amarillo and Panhandle cattle men report over ten thousand cattle sold in recent days. Pat Landergin moved 3,000 three year old steers to California to aid district restocking after foot and mouth disease. Crews Brothers sold 1,000 steer calves at 32.50 a head, the year’s record high for calves on the range. Other big deals include 700 yearlings bought by Wichita buyers, 300 cows and calves sold by Hi B Smith, and 1,500 head of two and three year old steers sold to Kansas. Cattle are wintered in Kansas pastures or kept for shipping from Midland area ranches.
