The forecast calls for generally fair conditions in Amarillo and West Texas tonight and Tuesday with little temperature change. Temperature extremes reach a high of 82 and a low of 54.
J L Lancaster of Dallas, president of the Texas and Pacific and its T and P N subsidiary, testified at an Interstate Commerce Commission hearing in Lubbock. He described the 833 mile West Texas line as bringing rail service to towns on the route and aiding regional development.

Jesse Powell, a recluse, was captured at Ralston after ambushing sheriff deputy Ed Hartwick and Floyd Bell and wounding Louis Raba. Powell confessed to killing Bell and Hartwick, while Bell’s companion Marion Kendall was wounded. Powell had eluded capture until early today.
Tickets for The Little Tycoon go on sale Monday and Tuesday at City Drug Store 617 Polk Street. Junior College students and Harmony club members sell them. Prices: lower floor and front balcony $1, rest balcony 50 cents. Show starts 8:15 Tuesday night at the city auditorium.
The House began action on the annual interior department supply bill for fiscal 1932. The measure requests 468 million dollars with 5 million more than the current year and 840 thousand less than the budget recommendation. The largest item is 16 million for construction on the 165 million project.
United Press dispatch reports Senate Oil tariff Bloc leaders frame U S oil as global market issue. W B Pine Oklahoma and Elmer Thomas Oklahoma oppose conservation and proration, arguing foreign oil undercuts domestic production. Next Congress expected to push tariff, with strengthened effort and shifted votes.
The Italian salvage ship Artiglio was blown up and sunk with 14 crew aboard while salvaging the wartime wreck Florence near Houat Island. The explosion occurred when divers detonated charges in the hulk, sending shockwaves that caused the nearby ship to founder. The incident was reported from Hoedic signal station.
Police announce Polk Street from Third to Eleventh Avenues will be cleared of all traffic by 10 a.m. Thursday to accommodate Amarillo’s Santa Claus parade crowds. Chief W R McDowell urged residents to walk to the business district and cooperate with the temporary traffic plan, noting streets will reopen after the parade passes.

The Senate approved a $30,000,000 battleship modernization measure sponsored by Senator Reed of Pennsylvania and sent it to the House. Reed, a Republican and London naval conference delegate, led the bill.

Judge W R Ewing sentenced Carl Hefner to 99 years in prison for the murder of Homer Crabtree. Hefner's motion for a new trial was overruled and an appeal was noted.
In Denver on December 8, the jury in the murder trial of Pearl O'Loughlin for slaying her 10-year-old stepdaughter Leona was told to render a verdict of first degree murder or acquittal. The judge overruled a defense motion for directed acquittal and rejected three defense instructions.
The Soviet central executive committee commuted the death sentences of five engineers jailed for a plot to overthrow the regime to ten years in prison. The remaining three defendants had their ten year sentences reduced to eight, in a dramatic nationwide trial broadcast across the country. An arrest for liquor possession was reported as J L Griffin faced bond issues with sheriff’s department involvement.
In Fort Worth at the Worth Hotel, Amarillo and Corsicana officials debated a neutral site for the schoolboy semi final. A coin flip decided the game location, with Corsicana winning the flip though site options included Fort Worth Dallas Wichita Falls and Abilene.

New York December report says former judge Ben B. Lindsey pleaded not guilty to disorderly conduct at a West Side Court arraignment after eviction from the Cathedral of St John the Divine. He requested time for engagements in Reading Pennsylvania and Hartford Connecticut as his hearing was set for Friday. Lindsey disrupted Bishop Manning during prayer and demanded a hearing, claiming misrepresentation in the sermon.
Forrest Dale Rubottom four year old son of N E Rubottom a local plasterer died at Northwest Texas Hospital after a crash that sent the family car over an embankment and across a grade. His mother was killed instantly Wanda seven recovered with a fractured jaw and a two year old escaped injury. The bodies were sent to Greenville New Mexico for burial with services planned Tuesday. Mrs Rubottom survived by her parents three brothers and six sisters.
