Crash Victim Improves After Sunday Highway 83 Crash

The condition of Sam Arnett, injured in a Sunday afternoon car collision on Highway 83 that killed Mrs. W. L. Webb and injured the Webb children, remains critical. Arnett and two Webb children are hospitalized at Worley Hospital in Pampa.

City Enlivens Polk Street with Yuletide Decor

Polk Street shines in holiday dress as the city electrical department and Veterans of Foreign Wars complete the Santa Claus display. Volunteers wrapped more than two miles of laurel rope around street lamps and hung 1,200 multi colored lights suspended from North Carolina rope. Police aided progress by detouring traffic one block at a time.

Smith Case Opens In Stinnett Bank Robbery

Recluse Captured After Slayings Near Pawnee

Jesse Powell, a recluse, was captured at Ralston after ambushing sheriff deputy Ed Hartwick and Floyd Bell and wounding Louis Raba. Powell confessed to killing Bell and Hartwick, while Bell’s companion Marion Kendall was wounded. Powell had eluded capture until early today.

Soviet central committee commutes deaths for five engineers

The Soviet central executive committee commuted the death sentences of five engineers jailed for a plot to overthrow the regime to ten years in prison. New York December report says former judge Ben B. Lindsey pleaded not guilty to disorderly conduct at a West Side Court arraignment after eviction from the Cathedral of St John the Divine. Tragic Car Crash Claims Infant and Mother Near City Limits

Forrest Dale Rubottom four year old son of N E Rubottom a local plasterer died at Northwest Texas Hospital after a crash that sent the family car over an embankment and across a grade. His mother was killed instantly Wanda seven recovered with a fractured jaw and a two year old escaped injury. The bodies were sent to Greenville New Mexico for burial with services planned Tuesday. Mrs Rubottom survived by her parents three brothers and six sisters.
