Temple Could Not Win for Losing in Texas
Temple, Texas, high school football faced a puzzling season as the team lost most games yet thrilled hometown fans. The captain called coin tosses eleven times and lost every one, while Temple outgained opponents in all but its decisive losses and won only when clearly outplayed in yards. The squad outgained Waco in most categories but fell short on the scoreboard, prompting fans to joke about repealing the law of averages.
