Bond posted in socialite's slaying near Bluffton
In Beaufort County South Carolina on December 6 194? Island cattle rancher Victor F Stromy 36 was released on 3000 bond after a coroner's inquest into the death of William Moseley Swain a Philadelphia socialite. Stromy faces murder charges for Swain's skull fracture death at the Swain plantation home near Bluffton. Swain a prominent Philadelphia publishing family member died after an alleged fall from a wooden stair amid drinks. Sheriff J E McTeer said the fracture was unlikely from a fall and urged further investigation. Swain's wife Mrs Swain slept through the injury and learned of the hospital transfer later. Solicitor Randolph Murdaugh plans to bring Stromy to trial in March. Swain was the great grandson of The Philadelphia Ledger founder and a member of the Philadelphia Blue Book.
