Word ranch eyed for city park and water site

B D Garmon Panhandle deputy state game warden urged Amarillo to convert part of the Word ranch into a park and game preserve while the city holds an option on land for a water well. Hereford official E W Harrison praised the water site move and pledged regional cooperation. Expert Talks on Explosives at Municipal Auditorium

M L Oglesby of the Interstate Commerce Commission bureau of explosives urged extreme caution in handling all explosives. He used lantern slides to show accidents and outlined safe practices to railroad men shippers bus iness men and farmers. Mayor Blasdel introduced him as a leading authority with the Fort Worth and Denver railroad backing the event.

Chest Directors Meet To Finalize Campaign Plans

The Community Chest board meets in the Board of City Development rooms tonight to polish budget drive details starting next Monday. Four stenographers prepare solicitor cards as the city is districted for the effort. the $25 000 quota will be shared by six organizations with a contingency fund for unforeseen needs. A. E. Officer Stops Gar One Dead Police Proceeding

A night patrolman Sam O'Dell and an unidentified youth are dead after a pistol fire incident in Springdale Arkansas. O'Dell stopped a car carrying three youths when the shooting began. two other youths escaped. O'Dell may die from his wounds as authorities investigate the case.

Highway meet in Dallas discussed state highways and taxation

Temple Tex Dec 5 Ma Ferguson issued a call for a conference to be held in Dallas on December 11 and 12 to consider questions affecting state highways and taxation of motor vehicles and gasoline. Woman Injured in Crash on Seventh Street and Mabry Avenue

Mrs. Lida F. Sevier, 805 Merchant Street, suffered a broken arm and sprained wrist after a Chevrolet coach she rode in collided with a Ford truck driven by A. O. Jones of Hamilton Plumbing at Seventh Street and Mabry Avenue. She was hospitalized at Northwest Texas. Her 6-year-old son, also in the car, was uninjured.

The Daily Mail reports an alleged Egyptian plot to kill prominent British government members and destroy public buildings in London. Morons Attack Chicago Women in Violent Assaults

Chicago reports describe three women attacked by a group of assailants last night leaving one with a probable skull fracture and broken collar bone while a second sustained a torn finger and teeth injuries. A third woman fired shots at the assailant and escaped. Richard Fitzgerald, a confessed robber, had habeas corpus denied.
