Substantial gains in collection of city and school taxes were reported today as November receipts of the two collection agencies were estimated. George M. Waddill estimated a 5 percent rise in first half 1934 tax collections over the prior year, with November receipts at $101,684 and current taxes totaling $124,923.96. Perry C. Burks said city receipts to date are ahead of last year, though November totals were not yet final. Miss Jewell Davidson estimated county tax receipts between $100,000 and $103,000 for November, bringing current tax totals to $103,000–$106,000. She noted January sees the heaviest county collections as first-half taxes become due for both city and school taxes.
