The treasury finished the first five months of the 1938 fiscal year with a net deficit of 742,469,709 dollars, about 50 million dollars more than the year’s total forecast.

Carl Hinton chamber of commerce manager leaves for Austin to attend a state wide meeting with a water consultant from the natural resources committee appointed by President Roosevelt. He represents the Panhandle Water Conservation Association as one of seven groups across the state. The panel will map flood control and water conservation across regions and watersheds. Flying hotels for Pan American Airways transatlantic service are built for 50 passengers and a crew of 10. Private cabins and sleeping compartments are in one section, a large dining lounge in another.
Sid Harper of the Amarillo Police traffic squad reports several rubber stop signs embedded in pavement were cut off. Signs disappeared from Tenth and Eleventh Avenue intersections on Madison Street and at one or two Jackson Street crossings.
