Attractive Cleveland widow found slain near El Paso

Death Claims R B Mellon in Pittsburgh

R B Mellon 75 president of Mellon National Bank and brother of Andrew Mellon died at his home. Survived by wife Jennie King Mellon a son Richard K Mellon and daughter Sarah Cordelia Scaife. He helped build the Mellon business empire and led many enterprises after Andrew Mellon joined the Treasury. The death followed a month of ill health and occurred at 5 19 this morning.

Mail robbery suspect held on indictment in Fort Worth

Fort Worth reports the arrest of Joe Martin 35 among 13 Amarillo indicted last September 18 for the February 21 71 000 Texas and Pacific mail robbery. A second man 38 held for harboring a fugitive and another man believed to have driven the robbery car was jailed. District Attorney Fas tus aided the grand jury to speed prosecutions. Public Works Administrator Ickes announced a total of 26,543,053 in allotments to 71 non-federal projects across 25 states and Hawaii. The program aims to create 161,249 man months of direct employment and includes Texas entries such as Stamps loan and grant for water supply, Longview loan and grant for sewage, Lubbock loan and grant for a dormitory, Temple grant for a water tank, and Van Zandt County grant for a school.

Touhy Aide Sharkey Hangs Self in Jail Cell

Willie Sharkey one of four Chicago gangsters acquitted in the William Hamm kidnapping case hanged himself in his jail cell between 5 and 6 a.m. The body was found by a jailer during the morning round. He faced transfer to Chicago for trial on Hamm case charges. A custody hearing for Sharkey and three others was set for tomorrow.
