Four Die In Wink Road Crash Near Kermit
Four people were killed at midnight when a car and a pickup collided head on and a third car struck the wreckage eight miles south of Kermit on the Wink highway. Injured were two in critical condition. one man had a broken leg and possible internal injuries. a hitchhiker, Jacinto Villarreal, 16, was not expected to survive. Named victims include Fern Ruth Smith 17 and Clara Faye Hendrix 16 of Kermit W C Green Jr 24 of Fort Worth Nathan Homer Daniels 24 of Lubbock. The Turner pickup driver Odis G Turner 18 from Wink was reportedly returning from Kermit with him. Mrs. R D Widner driving the other car toward Wink was uninjured. Daniels worked for Hoernbeck Construction Co of Lubbock and was in Wink at the time. The four killed were en route to Kermit.
